TUSPHTM Strategic Planning Town Hall - Shared screen with speaker view
Good morning, callers. Thank you for your participation. After the Dean's intro and presentation, I will monitor the chat. If you wish to comment at that time, let me know through chat, and you can unmute your mic.
connection is not great - hard to follow
can microphone be closer to Dean
hi, is the sound supposed to be on? I don't hear anything
nancy, check if you are using “computer audio”
it’s tough to understand. audio sounds muffled
or disconnect and try again - we can definitely hear
HI, Nancy! The sound is on. Do you know how to check the input?
thanks in now
it just got a bit clear. whatever happened
I can’t hear anything
more clear. thanks
Sounds ok here.
Arachu, do you know how to to check your sound?
Angela, I think I know. I have it at max.
Now I hear, but the sound is really bad.
Message from techs: sound is unpredictable by mobile phone; if on your computer, try to change input devices. Let me know if you need guidance through that.
this is being recorded right ? I might just listen later if so.
If you want to comment, let me know through chat, and we'll acknowedge.
Just hard to hear the Deans words its loud enough - just not clear
Yes, this is recording.
It’d be great if you could let us know who talks when it’t not the dean. Thank you.
Elaine Hicks is speaking about the need for information literacy, specifically, in the plan.
Will there be a follow on investment plan? Will this also be public?
Nancy, do you want me to ask that question? It will be public.
Question about not receiving the plan. If you didn't get it, it will be on the web.
Question about will there be an implementation plan? Yes.
yes but investment plan a little different
Yes, there will be resources to help put the plan forward.
Kathy Branley: we have decided to hold the staff retreat on an ongoing basis.
Lina: how much buy-in do we have from the university, i.e. Provost.
We have a great deal of buy-in from the University. The Board has also been very supportive.
Patty Kissinger: I was on the student experience committee, and the feedback was super positive. Congratulate yourselves!
Felicia Rabito: echo Patty! It would be great to have the information like that from the student survey so we know the details of what to do.
What does our monitoring and evaluation framework for this look like?
The monitoring and evaluation framework is underway with a leadership team (implementation team) to identify metric/measures, tied to a timeline and milestones and expected reporting with evaluation points over the 4 years of the plan. So, more to come
thanks. is there a mobile microphone you can give to people who speak ?
can someone repeat this question? can't understand
Or if not it would be great if you could repeat the quesiton/crux of it
Jane: Page 2 of the plan understates our effort to reclaim previous glory.Q: are we going to expand our research efforts locally?
Sorry, ya'll. I'm trying to listen and type the questions back without missing big points.
Q: local outreach to students in our area/state?
Patty Kissinger: not all of our peers are those you're referring to. We need to be aware of LSU.
Lina: past strategy was focused on the research mission at the expense of the other parts, like teaching. How can we still maintain our status as a research institution?
John Lefante: are we going to do all of these things in the plan?
John: that helps tell me that it's going to take some time and effort, but is all of this on the table?
Moving into the branding piece now, everyone!
Lina: I'm concerned about crossing something off that's still a really big problem.
our international seems too infectious disease focused whereas we have had major impacts on other outcomes
that one is the best
I see those illutrations as too ID and medically oriented
It looks like the illustrations are samples and he agrees that they are too medically oriented.
All: he's trying to get a piece of embedded media to load and play.
black child and white nurse reinforces stereotypes
Patty: can you tell us what it was?
Patty: we in the steering committee that it was a bit paternal. Who will have final say so on the illustrations?
We in the steering committee had some feedback into this and thought it was a bit paternal. Who will have final say so?
the NYT second line was the best one so far as I could tell
Sorry if I missed this, but do we have a strategy for marketing internationally (which can help us attact both students and research funding opportunities)?
Q: we need to be careful not to come across with the savior concept
Patty: get some students involved in the branding
Can the Dean say more about plans to systematize/build staffing for grant support, per the strategic plan?
Therese Carter: we need students from more areas than GCHB
I'm going to get to Janna's ? first, then Tory's.
Tory, important question. Since we're on the branding topic now, how about we follow up with you directly or keep a list of questions to publish for all.
Mark Diana: I just want to say thanks for doing this.
ok Angela thanks, or please add it in if conversation moves back to research or other relevant issue
Thanks for facilitating the chat, Angela.
