Good Morning. I am a recent EdD recipient. I used LatCrit as my theoretical framework. I signed up to this symposium to become more versed in LatCrit. Would appreciate any guidance and how I can get more involved in LatCrit.org.

I have to say that Mitch McConnell refusing to comment on Trump’s presser last night tells me that he would be willing to consider any and all means to victory.
Steven Bender
01:10:30
Although we haven’t much cared under trump about international keeping face and shame around things like climate change

“We” being the U.S.
Jorge Roig
01:11:44
Steve, your comment immediately reminded me of Scalia laughing during oral argument at Breyer’s suggestion that the USA (and specifically the Court) would care about the official statements made by the USA to the UN and the World about Puerto Rico.
Catherine Grosso
01:12:32
I have to jump off. Thank you for a wonderful discussion and a wonderful series and for everything you each do every day to make a new world.
Adalberto Rosado
01:15:29
I’ve been seeing on Twitter that the exit polls are inaccurate regarding the voting breakdown by race, so I hear you, Saru! It’s been so frustrating
Jorge Roig
01:16:54
Agreed Adalberto! The exit polls have inconsistencies with the results if you look closely. Like the polls. My theory about a piece of it has been that some Trump voters lied when polled both before and after voting. Interesting to hear about your observations in terms of race.
Saru Matambanadzo
01:20:30
SpearIt has the next question - but we still have time for comments and questions. Would love your participation.
Jorge Roig
01:21:05
Where is that 10 to 13 % number coming from? Exit polls?
Saru Matambanadzo
01:21:56
Probably exit polls which have been shifting like mad!!!!!
Jorge Roig
01:22:30
And I would imagine exit polls did not count mail-in voters.
Saru Matambanadzo
01:23:02
Jorge this is right!!!!
Jorge Roig
01:24:05
If our assumptions are correct, then it is utterly ridiculous to say ANYTHING about the “Black vote” based on exit polls.
Saru Matambanadzo
01:24:42
And so many of us EARLY VOTED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saru Matambanadzo
01:24:55
There were no exit polls when I early voted. Just lines in and out and then over!
Saru Matambanadzo
01:25:32
Jorge is next
Jorge Roig
01:25:33
Yeah, that too!!! If exit polls did not count early or mail-in, then they are utterly worthless this year.
Atiba Ellis
01:26:11
I can’t recall exactly, but yes this is exit polling that has talked about African American support for conservatives has jumped 3 to 5 points in this election.
Atiba Ellis
01:26:43
But even those polls are skewed by the fact that mail-in voting was not sampled like Jorge is saying.
Marcia Narine Weldon
01:26:58
this has been wonderful and much needed. I have to leave for a faculty meeting. Take care, all!

Anthony Farley posited Latinx voting for Trump as honorary whites
Jorge Roig
01:30:53
I have to step off at 12:30 for a job talk, so I’ll cede my turn.
Saru Matambanadzo
01:31:17
You know I love Anthony! But haven’t we so worked to move beyond this - because it would make Latinx folks honorary Blacks - he might object to that????
Saru Matambanadzo
01:31:22
Sorry Jorge!

greetings all ... just got here from the Justice Initiative … thanks for the invite Saru
Jorge Roig
01:35:02
Oh, the other thing I wanted to throw out for the group to chat about is the two runoff elections in GA that are going to decide control of the Senate. Are those winnable? Shouldn’t everyone descend on GA for the next month to turn out the vote? So that we can then move to the policy changes Khaled has been talking about.
Saru Matambanadzo
01:35:19
will follow up with this question - thank you!!!!

Worried about the liberals who may not take those concerns seriously in a “post-Trump” America. Reminds of how Dems beg for POC votes, but don’t care about black and brown lives after the votes are in

Thank you so much for this incredible panel! This has really motivated me and supported my own feelings that yes, this is a victory, but we cannot let up for one second on the work that needs to be done. The insight of everyone here has been fantastic, and I really appreciate the invite to hear from all of you. Thank you so much for extending this invite, Saru!
